Snake River ~ What time is it?
Looking for a place to camp around the borders of Idaho and Oregon near the cities of Ontario and Fruitland is tricky. We found a great spot on the Snake River just outside of Weiser, ID on the Oregon side of the river.
I titled this “what time is it” because depending on which side of the river or sometimes just what side of the street you’re on, it will be either Pacific or Mountain time. I guess whenever I looked at a time zone map I didn’t think about where the lines landed and how that affects people, especially if they keep driving back and forth over the line.
But no matter what time it is this camping spot was just beautiful. When we were setting up camp, we saw some wild horses just walking by across the street. We watched them till they disappeared around the hill. The pictures don’t do their varied colors any justice, they were wonderful looking animals.
There was all sorts of birds, ducks and geese, a rabbit here and there. That probably explains why there were also a lot of flying bugs, mostly the small moth type and mosquitoes, thankfully the latter were not as thick as the moths and even though Randy is a mosquito magnet, we only got a couple bites each.
I think every other camper there was fishing, even though I never actually saw any one catch a fish. I think they may have been being cagey about if, or how many fish they were catching, so that no one would take “their spot”. They were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived, but a little incredulous that we don’t fish, they didn’t know what to make of that!

What are ya? Freaks that you dont fish? i already wrote a comment under one of your other pics in the Emmett Rd camp spot about the Snake River. go there to read it.
You guys could be fishing…yummy dinner!
You are both so right. But it’s $98 per non-resident for a fishing license! And we only have the the two Looney-toon fishing poles from when Court and Ash were 5 and 2 years old. There is a guy across the way and I thought about trading a fresh loaf of bread for a Steelhead! We’re looking into how we can get fishing, since we left California there’s water everywhere!
oh HEY! i just noticed you got the old avatars back. cool.
