Chickahominy Reservoir
Here we are in the Oregon Outback, at Chickahominy Reservoir, sitting out another storm. It just west of Riley, OR, where US Hwy 395 and US Hwy 20 meet. We got here just before the rain and wind really got busy.
We can see the traffic on the 20, but you cannot hear it. This morning about 6:00 I could hear cows somewhere in the distance lowing for their breakfast.
Our neighbors were serious fishers. It took them a good 30-45 minutes to get all their garb on. They had chest high waders and they had these little pontoon rafts they could sit in and they put flippers on their feet and went all over the lake. They went out before sunset and then again in the late morning…we never saw any fish though.
Leslie the camp host is friendly and this campground is exceptionally clean and free of trash. The fish cleaning station looks state of the art.

Looks really nice there!!
It was Cyn, like an oasis in the Oregon outback, not that their “desert” really looked like the Mojave, but it may have been because we were there in early spring, it was pretty green.
i am enjoying your travelogue, your being able to go and go and go, to various places and locales, unvisited by me or you before, enabling me to travel with you vicariously. thank you for the Historical Monuments that are legible to read. i look forward to reports of each place you visit.
P.S. what happened to our old avatars? i like them.
Well thank you Larry, we are glad to have you, guess I’ll be thinking of you when I am trying to decide whether to take a picture of a monument sign :o).
I am bummed about the old avatars too, I have one more thing to try them I am going to have to give up!
