Boondocking in Kansas
April 20th ~ Day 21 of our 2015 Road Trip
I was worried about Kansas with no National Forest and no BLM land to camp but they have a bunch of these great little “State Fishing Lakes” the brochures say that all the ones I looked at were set up in the 50’s. But a big surprise for a California boy, they allow you to spend the night if you want, imagine that!!
Our first one, Bourbon State Lake, outside Elsmore, KS was quite rural, at the end of dirt roads, the road around the lake was flooded out in a couple places so we stayed on the south end where we came in and didn’t drive around to the north end till morning, we wanted to fill up our fresh water at the hydrant there, but liked the rural area we found in the south for our camp.

i see by the map you are way up above Texas. are ya gunna swing down thru Texas on your continuing travels?
The route is always a pretty fluid thing, at one point we were gonna go thru Dallas on the way to Kansas. Me and Goody2Shoes will have to have a meetin on the route, I have always wanted to see “four corners”, you know, since reading so many Louis L’Amour books.
