Sandpoint is an even bigger tourist trap than Coeur D’Alene was, think Newport Beach, not really our cup of tea. And certainly very little public land anywhere around the north end of Lake Pend Oreille.

Combine the fruitless camp search with the fact that our chassis battery had made it obvious that it was in it’s death throws, we spent our second night in a row in a Walmart parking lot, so we could get a battery and install it in the morning.6-23 Ponderay Walmart

This Walmart is set up a little differently than Coeur D’Alene, which had us right out on the street edge of the lot, at this one they have you park around back almost, more like the side, there were a few small shade trees. There were some truckers off the US 95 that take a nap there, I was afraid they would keep me awake, but I didn’t notice them too much, could be because I didn’t sleep the night before. Sad smile
