McGregor Lake NFS Camp
We had a nice drive thru the forest on the US 2, past the Thompson Chain of Lakes, we stopped for the night because we didn’t want to get to close to the city of Kalispell, there would be no chance there to camp, except a hot Walmart parking lot, and we had been looking for water to cool off in.
This campground is right on the US 2, the traffic is real loud by 6AM, I don’t remember what time it got quiet at night. Squirrels and flies but nice.
Each of the few spaces adjacent the lake has a trail and small hollow in the trees to get to the edge of the lake, which is cool.

when you are able to park near water, do you go for a swim? get in the water to get wet and cool off?
Actually, i got an email for McGregor, not Libby. no emails for comments, but i found them when i got here.
so, the next post is a Mystery? i cant wait.
We have been trying to get in the water since Riggins, ID. But back in May it was still too cold and ever since it’s either been too cold or not a good access, or it it’s too mucky (I’m much more particular in my old age), or the river is way too fast and rapid where ever we’re able to park. We bought a couple float chairs right after our stay at Riggins and have been dying to use them. Maybe when we get to the Badlands near the Bighorn, that would be cool1
