Pink Hole House BLM Camp – Orofino, Idaho
OK its not called “hole”, that is a misprint on the cool forest service campground handout we got at the Slate Creek Ranger Station. We ended up calling it a “hole” probably because we have been spoiled, finding real inexpensive places that we like better. We had never seen a BLM campground charge so much but we never saw one with electric hook ups either. BUT it is LOUD, lots of logging truck traffic, early morning and late night, it is right on the US 12.
Cost: $9 – 1/2 of $18
RV/Camping: Either
Internet Verizon: Fine
Noise: Lotsa LOUD logging trucks almost all night
Restrooms: Flush

Water: Yes
Dump: Hookup
Trash: Yes
Location: N46.5029°, W116.3478°
About 5 miles west of town, on north side of US 12

verra intrestin. are you just driving around just to sight-see? yesterday you were driving east on the Lewis and Clark Hwy 12 and now you turned around and are heading west?
and yeah, dont ya just hate noisy camp areas? is this the farthest you could get from the road? i would think with all those amenities it would be a bigger campground.
one other thing, showing on your pin-map, places look closer than they really are. my AAA map shows a real long distance from Selway to Moscow, but your map show apparent distances closer together. im gunna check this out better and get back to you on this.
Thank you for posting all this. i hope i am not the only person traveling with you here. i saw Cynthia commented once or twice but nothing from Ben at all, or anybody else. i told Lynne about all this and she said she would check it out, she had forgotten about Grammalei completely. it would be nice if others commented also. maybe you should encourage comments from the peanut gallery.
Yep just sight seeing around, trying to see as much of Idaho in a month as we can.
We got one of the last sites at this CG, all the ones further from the road we taken :(
I guess people are pretty busy to be following and commenting like you, Aunt Joan follows mostly but she and Lei write emails.
I don’t know how to encourage comments ?????
I’m glad you like the map, so do I :)
ok, i see the problem of distances on your pin-map as opposed to my AAA map. your’s doesnt show all the little towns spread all over the place unless you zoom in real close. my map shows–on the Nez Perce Res–many many little towns and villages and roads and creeks and all the names of them filling the area between Hwy 12 and Hwy 95. look at your paper maps then look at this map showing the relative area being the same between the two and you will see all the names of towns and places.
ok, enough of that, ive said my piece, i’ll let it go for now.. im finding i spend almost more time here in grammalei land than i do in FB land. you are so much more fun. talk to ya later.
I keep thinkin I should list the little towns we go thru, when I am doing these short camp posts, then when I am doing them I am hurryin and forget :{
grammalei land :o
ok, i understand you are sightseeing. since you have the time you might as well see what you can. ya never know if you ever will be back that way again so………..
maybe you can keep a list of little towns as you travel thru them and then refer back to yer list as you write up the new posting. i like your listing of each CG ‘s services, like trash, water, etc.
maybe you can email reminders to others of yer email contact list about GL land Boondocking travels. i bet a lot of people dont even know about it. Cynthia and Keri are on Facebook occassionally. maybe they would visit here more often if they got emails.
:P
