We’re still having a rainy day here and there, but for the most part everything is melting and blooming and coming out to catch the warm sunshine rays! It seems like overnight all the trees and bushes have got tiny green leaves, and all the grass turned green so fast.Geese2 These are just two of the geese that inhabit or rule the ranch here. They sure can make a lot of racket.

Border Drive

Saturday we drove through the Kootenai Wildlife Preserve then on through the Budweiser Hops fields, ending at the Boundary-Smith Creek Wildlife Area. It’s about a 30+ mile drive from where we are. In the “Porthill” photo, looking East, you can see the border line coming down from the top of the mountain, it’s filled with snow. In the “Boundary Creek Road” photo, looking West, you see the same line, it’s a little harder to see, it’s just to the left of the patch of snow at the top. All along Boundary Creek Road there is a fence. I’m not sure how far the fence goes, it’s not a very impressive one. I can’t imagine it going all the way to the top and then over, but who knows? We think it’s a crack-up that the border at Porthill closes at 11:00pm. It’s like some sort of Cinderella rule!

The Elk

We saw this impressively large herd of elk just driving through the neighborhood we live in. They’re hard to see but the there are a bunch of babies at the tree line, at the back of the heard.
