We took advantage of a nice warm day a couple weeks ago and went for a walk. Winter snow hit this weekend and we have about 8″ of the lovely white everywhere! Here is what it looked like before the snow. I am always awed by the beauty that surrounds us.
beautiful spread, seen much wildlife?
I checked with Sara, our 11 year old expert. They are all scat enthusiasts but they defer to her when ever we ask :0). Over in the 25 acres woods, across the creek, she has seen scat and tracks from black bear, coyote, wolf, deer, elk and moose, just to name the bigger animals. She has seen elk over there, we see deer over here all the time of course, scavengers!
Brian thinks there may be a black bear spending the winter in the woods. (I feel like the moose didn’t come out of hiding til January or February last year?)
Wildlife update – we saw some moose tracks just 15 feet from our cottage, in the snow by Lei’s almond tree sapling, more scavengers, I’m not the expert but I am pretty durn positive!
dude, you need to get a trail cam!
We just went up for a hike a couple weeks ago, and the majority of scat was deer and elk.. Some moose. We were driving to Sandpoint last week, and I saw a bull moose with some pretty good size antlers! Dad turned around, but the bull was already gone…
Hi Julia, So glad to see you commenting on here! Where did you see the moose?
