Big City Boondocking – Moscow Idaho

Found a campspot with GREAT internet – See if you can find the cell tower in the photo ![]()
We found a big puddle of steering fluid under the RV and a trail of drips around the campground leading to us the night before, so the day was spent looking for a mechanic again, backtracked 30 some miles before we found “Sunny” He was recommended by Wanda at FM Auto in Potlatch, her husband, like all the mechanics in Lewiston, was booked for 2 weeks. It wasn’t the steering pump or lines like I had assumed, the steering box was falling to pieces, in the process of fixing the steering fluid leak and an oil leak that was causing our radiator fins to clog with gunk, we found out that the gunk was sealing a leak in the radiator. Sunny and his family stayed until 7PM getting the Minnow reassembled, only to start her up and see coolant pouring out.
But, he offered us the bomb camping area, out with his stored automobiles in back!
See the storm clouds in the photo? We have learned quite a bit about Idaho weather ![]()

well, HEY! i was beginning to worry about your safety, even tho i prayed each day for your safety. i knew you were just getting from one wifi location to the next. first question. what year is yer Ford Minnow? they do tend to fall apart after many years and you need new parts. i have done the same on my truck: steering pump and box, radiator, cooling lines to transmission and others. so now this is fixed and you are able to go further. im happy for you. send me an email more often if you can letting me know where ya are and you are OK.
“Ford Minnow” I like that :) She is an 86, we bought her in 2004 from a widow, she had about 50,000 miles then, we just went over 71,000 the other day. Nephew George explained to me that even with low miles a lot of the parts made out of rubber and plastic IE gaskets, dry out, rot out, even if you haven’t got a lot of miles.
There is no way we would buy something brand new, and if wey buy a different used rig, we have no idea what we will be in for, so we go on . . .
