I’m running out of adjectives to describe each place we stop at, without repeating myself. Each one seems to have an attraction and appeal all it’s own. It is really hard to capture with a camera just how stunning the steepness of the surrounding hillsides are here.

Campground Looking Up RiverWe are partial to these areas where there aren’t designated spots, where everyone is free to find their “nest”, then it all just seems more natural. We are running into more campers with generators, but so far no one has been real obnoxious about it.

Elk Farm

I had no idea you could farm game animals, I guess I’d never seen an elk up close before, so we didn’t know what they were until one of the campers let us know. He also told us that the people raising the elk have a store just before you hit town. I bought some chuck at $8.95/lb. The NY cut was $17.95/lb. They also raise buffalo, beef and pork. I’ll do an update when I cook it and let you know how it turned out.

The elk make some strange noises around sunset. It is really dead quiet at night. We are not parked right next to the river, so we don’t really hear it.
