Rock Hounding

February 11th, 2012 LeiLei Posted in Boondocking 3 Comments »

This Mesa we found on Public land sure has a variety of rocks! We can’t tell for sure, but it looks like someone came in here and made flat spots for you to park on. A lot of the rocks look like they are from some volcanic eruption. I’m hoping to find out when we go into town next week.

We went for a hike this morning, I found so many rocks…but I only took a few to send to the grand-daughters.

Earp

February 9th, 2012 LeiLei Posted in Boondocking 5 Comments »

We decided on going East out the 62 in search of warmer and dryer weather. Since we really enjoyed Tombstone we thought why not try Earp.

A short 190 miles later and Ahhhhh! It’s beautiful here!

Earp seemed to be pretty much a bust, so far it looks like the whole town is just the Oasis Mini Mart and a Post Office. They do have a life size talking Wyatt in a box, as soon as you get near it he starts talking to you. For a more intense conversation you need to insert coins. We’re going exploring next week so see if there is any more to the town.

What about my hair!…

July 26th, 2011 LeiLei Posted in Beauty Tips, Boondocking on a Budget No Comments »

So what do I do about my hair? The hair dryer draws an enormous amount of electricity. And everything I’ve read so far, electricity is a huge concern. I don’t want to use up precious resources, i.e., water & electricity for vanities sake!. So I’ll be trying new ways to do something with my hair that will leave me feeling like I did something with it, that makes me “feel” pretty.

Right now my hair is long, straight and fine! Without blow-drying it, it just lays very flat on my head. When it’s like that I hate it, and “feel” very un-attractive. I don’t think cutting it short will give me any better options. So, until we hit the road I will try not blow-drying and see what new styles I can come up with.

I would love to hear from any one with some “Beauty Tips”!

Another New Adventure!

July 26th, 2011 LeiLei Posted in Boondocking on a Budget 1 Comment »

Well, here we go again! Another new adventure! We’re thinking we might try Boondocking! We thought that while we decide where we want to end up we could also see some of the country.

Boondocking is camping far away from civilization without any facilities such as water or electricity; roughing it. In a more general sense it has come to mean camping or parking anywhere without facilities, relying strictly on the comforts and enjoying the freedom that the RV provides…

We have been thinking for some time now that we’d like to live in Idaho. But since we found out a few years back that the climate can have a real adverse effect on me…we’re gonna look and check out places for few years and see what we can see.
